The early 2000s is making a comeback. And OPI has entered the chat.
Inspired by Y2K trends and early 2000s pop culture mixed with space aesthetic and futuristic escapism, the Metallic Mega Mix collection is the brand’s largest collection of metallic shades.
It features 27 total shades, including 12 liquid metals in Nail Lacquer and GelColor (limited edition), 9 exclusive metallics in long-wear Infinite Shine lacquer, and 6 glittery cyber dusts in Powder Perfection.
Metallic Mega Mix
From millennium blues (Y2Slay, MillenniYUM) to rich nostalgic reds (Cyber Cherry on Top, CD Rom-antic, DeJa RoUgE), Metallic Mega Mix offers warm and cool tones that give nails serious pop.
Color highlights include soft, reflective tones (You’ve Got Nail, Lip Pink Battle, Intergalactips) mixed with futuristic space aesthetic hues (Liquid Fire, Funmetal, Stardust It Off).
The palette also features glowing metal shades (SaTURN Me On, 2000 Karats).
OPI Embraces Y2K Trend
OPI co-founder and brand ambassador Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, said, “This year is all about expanding the OPI portfolio to offer more choices for greater personal expression. We started adding new colors and effects in a variety of formulas with the spring collection and will continue to broaden our spectrum of shades and finishes with fall. OPI is streaming metallics into the OPI color portfolio! Metallic Mega Mix includes a total of 27 hues, and everything in this collection has a special effect. The early 2000s look is back, and we’ve given it a futuristic edge. Nostalgia is comforting and makes us feel optimistic about the future, and we wanted to channel that energy through nails.”
OPI global director of color equity Jill Bartoshevich, said, “These jaw-dropping liquid metals give consumers and pros that elevated metallic look that’s perfect for fall. We’ve given the metallics a new fresh take with ethereal tones, iridescence, and dichroic finishes. One shade alone is a statement. Used in nail art, and you get something out of this world. Hero shade, Cyber Cherry on Top, is a cherry pink-red with rich pink tones that will compliment every fall outfit. Liquid Fire, another top color, is a beautiful burnt orange that will be a huge trend for fall.”
