Angelina Jolie has cultivated a signature look over the years. During her early days in Hollywood, she was more apt to experiment with hair colors and styles, including platinum blonde and Elvira-esque black. In recent years, however, you can basically bet that if Jolie steps on the red carpet, she’s probably wearing her hair in a classic blowout with a little bit of wave, or pulled back in an elegant chignon or twist. That’s why it was so surprising to see her look at the AFI Fest—it was a total departure from the Jolie we typically see at high-profile events.
For the event, where she promoted her forthcoming Maria Callas biopic Maria, Jolie ditched her usual polished blowout in favor of big, full, textured waves and curls. Her hair was brushed over to one side, cascading toward one shoulder in undone waves with tons of volume. Her roots are a darker shade than the mid-lengths and ends, evolving from a light ashy brunette at the root to a honey-blonde shade.
