Do you wish you diffused more? Does the day get away from you before you realize you forgot to fill up the diffuser? Same. Let me introduce you to the essential oil diffuser station. This diffuser hack has been a game changer for me and I just had to share!
I have the best intentions with diffusing but so often it’s just one more thing on my list of things to do and priority wise, it’s near the bottom. However, I know the powerful benefits of diffusing and always have good intentions to diffuse rather than lighting that convenient (and toxic) candle but often times life gets in the way.
What is a Diffuser Station?
A diffusing station is a designated area where a diffuser and vessel of water sit together on a tray for ease of diffusing.
I started following the Instagram account, Nesting With Grace about a year ago and let me tell you-the inspiration I’m getting from this account has brought so many little joys to my daily life with her colorful, whimsical home decor and her creative take on essential oils.
I don’t think Brook, the creator of Nesting with Grace, calls how she diffuses a “diffusing station” but it was from her that I learned to add a carafe and a few oils next to each diffuser for convenience. A pretty tray is also a great add. Sounds like an obvious thing to do once you think about it but I never thought about it. To put a pitcher or some vessel for water next to my diffusers for easy use, increased my frequency of diffusing in a big way.
When I bought my first carafe and filled it up next to my new diffuser, lo and behold I started diffusing everyday. It was as if walking 3 feet to the sink to fill up my diffuser was a deal breaker-so silly! I don’t think I’m alone in this because the carafe is a game changer and I think if this idea appeals to you, you’ll agree that diffusing just got more fun and a lot more accessible!

I’ve set up several diffuser stations all over my house including a station in the entry way as well as one by my spot on the sofa.
Making an essential oil diffusing station is especially convenient on a nightstand. Diffusing lavender in the evening can be so relaxing and has even been known to improve sleep. Plus, I’m all about little night time rituals like my sleep mocktail that has totally replaced alcohol for me.
Best Places To Set Up A Diffuser Station:
- The kitchen for pesky dinner smells that linger.
- A guest bathroom to keep the air fresh.
- Bed side tables to diffuse sleep enhancing oils.
- On a sofa table for easy diffusing while relaxing.
- The entry way console table so a pleasant scent is the first thing guests smell.

Diffuser Station Styling Tips:
- A glass bottle with a flip top lid is easy to find and makes a great water vessel.
- Use a serving plate or cake stand to display your diffuser and carafe.
- A pretty soap dish or trinket dish would be cute to hold essential oil bottles.
- A decorative cutting board would make a nice base for a diffusing station.
- Check out your pie dishes-they can make a great tray!
Another benefit of creating an essential oil diffusing station is that with a pretty tray, a glass carafe and a cute bowl for oils, the station is just plain aesthetically pleasing! It makes me happy every time I pass one of my stations!
And by the way, you may notice my glass diffuser. I have wanted one like the diffuser pictured above as long as I’ve been an essential oil user. The original design came from Young Living but that diffuser is over $300. I decided to take a chance on a $40 one from Amazon and I love it! It looks the same and provides a lot of mist. I don’t think it runs as long as the Young Living diffuser. My diffuser’s run time is the same as my other diffusers. Find it HERE.
I hesitated to share this new way of diffusing because it’s such an obviously efficient way to diffuse essential oils but it wasn’t an obvious solution for me and it’s brought me a lot of enjoyment so of course, I love to share what is working for me and my family. Be sure to check out Nesting With Grace-I think you’ll love her as much as I do!
