I said to Mr. Ehmkay: plaid with pumpkins or plaid with acorns? And he immediately said acorns because people don’t do enough acorn nail art. I actually have a few acorn manicures on the blog (literally only two), but it’s definitely not something I do every season. But just warning, you plaid with pumpkins is probably coming as well.
I saw this nail art on Instagram, but the watermark was cut off and the link led to was an Etsy shop that I’m not sure was the original creator. As always if you ever know the creator, let me know so I can link or update my post.
I have to tell you that I was so frustrated with finding the perfect green for this look. I wanted something dusty and muted yet still bright. I went through so many colors and would you believe that a $.99 drugstore polish was perfection. I really don’t know if Sinful Colors comes out with polishes the way they used to, but I have some really amazing colors from them. I went back into my stash list and this one is from June 2012. I also tested 14 pinks before choosing the one that I chose. I needed something that was peachy pink and not too pink and not too peach and boy it got frustrating lol. Sometimes I think if I had fewer nail polishes, this would be easier but I wouldn’t get the colors that I would want.
Here are the colors:
- Peachy pink: Jessica Cosmetics Daylight
- Green: Sinful Colors Olympia
- Cream: Jessica Cosmetics Moose Milk
- Orange: OPI Have Your Panettone and Eat It Too
- Gold: Zoya Astrid
- Brown: Jessica Cosmetics Me, U, & Hennessy
- Darker green: Jessica Cosmetics Boho Chic
Did my plaid come out a little bit chaotic? Sure did. But I
really liked the idea of using all the colors and the acorn on the
plaid. Zoya Astrid was the perfect gold. I just wish it were a little
more opaque. Because it’s so shimmery, it simply cannot be super
thick and opaque. Either way I’m just obsessed with how these came out. And I got so many comments on it. Multiple people asked if there were press-ons. Anywho, here is the manicure shiny. I wore it shiny for one day and then added the matte topcoat.
Also, I have a random Pusheen with an acorn so I had to pose. My photo came out blurry but it’s still cute!
