Barbados Cherry Enzyme Cleansing Powder Review: A Game-Changer for Your Skin?

As an Eminence Organics Team Member (always eager to experience our latest launch!), I was thrilled to be gifted the new Barbados Cherry Enzyme Cleansing Powder. Having never tried a powder cleanser before, I was curious to see how it would compare to the gel cleansers I’ve always relied on. I was hopeful that it could deliver the same deep clean — and it did not disappoint. My skin care routine has always included a good non-irritating exfoliant, but I’ve been searching for something that could cleanse and exfoliate at the same time without being too harsh. The promise of a gentle, yet effective exfoliating cleanser, packed with natural enzymes, sounded like just what I needed.

Why Exfoliation Matters

Before diving into my experience with this skin care product, let’s talk about why exfoliation is key to any skin care routine. Regular exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, revealing a fresh layer of skin underneath. This process not only brightens your complexion but also allows your other skin care products to absorb more effectively. However, finding an exfoliant that is powerful yet gentle enough for regular use can be challenging, especially if you have sensitive skin like I do.

That’s where the Barbados Cherry Enzyme Cleansing Powder comes in. This cleanser powder is part of the Superfood Enzyme Collection, which also includes the Mango Enzyme Exfoliating Masque. Designed to gently exfoliate and deeply cleanse, it uses the natural enzymatic power of actinidin from kiwi and papain from papaya. These enzymes work to smooth and brighten your skin without irritation — a must for anyone with sensitive skin.

My Experience with the Barbados Cherry Enzyme Cleansing Powder

The smooth, matte packaging felt luxe to hold. I enjoyed the ease of the pour control spout dispensing the exact correct amount of product. The packaging does an amazing job of protecting the product from water and humidity. The scent is a gentle, delicate cherry fragrance — much softer than the overly sweet cherry scents I’ve encountered with other brands.

I decided to incorporate this powder into my routine, using it three times a week to start. Following the instructions, I dispensed 1–2 shakes of the powder into my dry hands, mixed it with water, and rubbed them together to create a creamy lather. The transformation from powder to foam was incredibly satisfying, and the light, fruity scent of Barbados cherry was a delightful bonus.

As I massaged the foam into my skin, I could feel the gentle exfoliation happening. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to lather the product into a smooth, luxurious foam with no powdery residue. The foam felt gentle on my sensitive skin, and I enjoyed massaging it into my face while appreciating the soft cherry scent. The actinidin and papain enzymes worked their magic without any scrubbing, leaving my skin feeling smooth and refreshed. What impressed me most was how my skin didn’t feel tight or stripped afterward, which is a common issue with many exfoliants on my skin type.

After rinsing and patting my skin dry, I noticed an immediate glow. My skin felt clean, soft and balanced, with no signs of irritation — just as promised.

The Results: Before & After

Before

I have extremely sensitive, reactive skin and had been avoiding exfoliation after damaging my skin barrier from overusing chemical exfoliants before. My skin also tends to get very oily and is prone to clogged pores.

Over the next few weeks, I continued using the cleanser regularly and saw noticeable improvements in my skin’s texture and brightness. The appearance of my pores seemed minimized, and my skin tone looked more even.

After

My skin felt very smooth and clean but not stripped. My forehead looks less congested, and I didn’t experience any negative reactions from my extremely sensitive skin! I’m so happy to have found an exfoliating solution gentle enough for my sensitive skin.

What’s Inside the Powder?

Curious about what makes this cleansing powder so effective, I took a closer look at the key ingredients:

  • Barbados Cherry (Acerola): Rich in vitamin C and polyphenols, this superfood helps brighten and even out the skin, leaving it radiant.
  • Actinidin: An enzyme derived from kiwi that gently exfoliates, making it perfect for sensitive skin.
  • Papain: Sourced from papaya, this enzyme helps resurface the skin for a smooth, glowing complexion.
  • Kakadu Plum: A potent source of vitamin C and antioxidants, this ingredient works to minimize the appearance of dark spots.
  • Diatomaceous Earth: A natural, finely milled ingredient that absorbs excess oil and dirt, helping to refine the skin’s texture.

Each ingredient in this powder is thoughtfully chosen to deliver a gentle yet effective cleanse, making it ideal for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

Final Thoughts

The Barbados Cherry Enzyme Cleansing Powder has quickly become a staple in my skin care routine. It’s a versatile product that delivers on its promises, offering a deep cleanse and gentle exfoliation that leaves my skin looking and feeling revitalized. If you’re in search of a product that can both cleanse and exfoliate without compromising your skin’s health, this cleansing powder is definitely worth a try.
