Purchased by me
I promise I will be caught up for you all soon! My August Ipsy Glam Bag arrived at the end of August and it got a little busy for me with life and work, but I never stopped thinking about this Olympic-themed Glam Bag (how it is Olympic-themed, I have no idea…)! Incredibly, I have been enjoying many of the products in the August bag and may even buy one at FULL SIZE!Â
YC Collection | Authentic Glazed Liquid Highlighter in Creamsicle
Â
I’m generally not a fan of liquid highlighters, but this shade looked bronzey enough that I thought I could potentially use it as a liquid eyeshadow if I didn’t like how this felt on my skin or if it didn’t play nice with my mainly powder makeup routine. I have never heard of the brand YC Collection, but it is a Puerto Rican company focusing on quality, but affordable makeup.Â
Creamsicle gives a rose-gold glow to the high points of the face while gliding and blending smoothly on the skin. The texture was completely weightless and did not look like overkill on my face or enhance texture. It has been very pleasant to use and I generally use it on my brow bone, cheekbones and tip of my nose. I received the full size valued at $18 USD.
Benefit Cosmetics | Matte Milk Primer
This product surprised me because I have not used a Benefit primer since their iconic Porefessional which while nice, had that typical silicone-feel so I was expecting something similar with this primer, but I was wrong! With a name that included the word “matte” in it, I was ready for a slick feeling formula, but instead I was greeted with a texture that felt like a quick-absorbing creamy moisturizer! It leaves an ever so slight tacky finish, but in no way does it upset my foundation application process! I also feel like this really enhanced the staying power of my makeup and allowed my skin to look less oily as the day progressed. I now have this in my cart for the VIB Rouge event! I received a deluxe sample valued at $4.91 USD.
Dallas & James Skincare Co. | Watermelon Dream All in One Eye Cream
I have never been a huge eye cream user, but over the last year or two, I have actually started to notice dryness underneath my eyes, so now I welcome all of the eye creams! Dallas & James is a small skincare company whose products are powered by watermelon and cloudberry extract. They do not use synthetic fragrance, silicones, artificial dyes or alcohol in their products which means that this slightly pink, slightly watermelon-scented eye cream is what I would call an unexpectedly “honest product”. Usually when a product is pink or smells like watermelon, it’s all artificial, but this is the real deal! The texture of this eye cream leaves a smooth finish making it great underneath makeup while also filling in any lines caused by dryness. I received a deluxe sample valued at $12.13 USD.
Korres | Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Probiotic Gel-Cream
Having used Korres skincare in the past, I knew this moisturizer would be REALLY nice! The texture is lightweight, cooling to irritated skin and absorbs quickly. This moisturizer also contains prebiotics and probiotics to ensure a healthy skin microbiome! I received a deluxe sample valued at $21 USD (this is a pretty generous sample size as the full size of this moisturizer is 40mL!).
Mi-el Skincare | Honey Infused Sugar Scrub
Another brand I have not heard of, but the brand story is rooted in co-founder Laura’s days as a competitive gymnast where she experienced constant ingrowns due to wearing bodysuits and shaving all the time. Mi-el is all about high performance body care to ensure the smoothest shave and with a high density scrub like this one, ingrowns don’t stand a chance! This is so dense that I actually struggle a bit sometimes with squeezing the product out, but if you do end up buying the full size of this, it comes in a jar where you can scoop instead. It has a light citrus scent and if it were more readily available for Canadians, I would definitely buy this because I LOVE dense scrubs like this one. I received a deluxe sample valued at $5.04 USD.
Final verdict:Â Factoring in the exchange rate, August’s Ipsy Glam Bag was valued at $84.11 CDN which is more than the $28.33 CDN (including shipping) I paid. I actually quite enjoyed this Glam Bag and even found a primer that I want in a full size! I thought the variety of products was also good which is a relief because I missed the window to choose ONE product so this month’s really was a surprise for me!
