I Could Probably See My Reflection In Rihanna’s Old-Hollywood Waves

If there’s one special-event hairstyle every stylist should have in their repertoire, it’s Old Hollywood waves, which are an absolute essential on red carpets, in photoshoots, and at events like weddings and proms. Both A-list celebs and regular folks like you and me often choose the undulating, curvaceous curls when they want to feel fancy, as they’re an instant ticket to pure glitz and glamour. Just ask Rihanna, who recently wore a very shiny take on the style for a Fenty Hair event.

The Fenty Beauty founder attended the launch of her haircare brand in London wearing a picture-perfect Old Hollywood style by hairstylist Ursula Stephen. Rihanna’s hair was deeply parted to one side and brushed out into the signature loose, bombshell waves that began just at her brow and flowed downward in an “S” shape. Unlike Veronica Lake, the 1940s starlet who popularized the hairstyle back in the day, Rihanna didn’t fully cover one eye with her hair, but a portion was brushed forward for a subtle peekaboo effect. The rest was worn behind her shoulder to show off her fuzzy, off-the-shoulder wrap dress, which looks so very cozy.
