Before we watch Steven’s video, I asked Ormonde Jayne’s founder Linda Pilkington to introduce the concept and creative process, exclusively for this review.
“The idea for Ormonde Jayne Kashmir had been lingering in my mind for quite a while, as a perfume necessary for our collection, but I was waiting for that elusive oil, to stay in keeping with the philosophy of Ormonde Jayne – to look for ingredients not widely used in the perfume industry”.

When I received the Deodar oil, I knew the creative process could start. I visited Geza Schoen in Berlin and we sat in his kitchen, discussing the composition for Kashmir and my vision. After several months, I felt the perfume couldn’t be better. The formula was sent to IFF to make sure it was compliant – this is the less romantic part of the story, but a necessary aspect. Ormonde Jayne Kashmir sat perfectly as part of the Route de la Soie collection as the ingredients are all focused on that region and its unique ingredients. Blue poppies seeds are a very familiar to me as an ingredient I use at home kitchen for both savoury and sweet and is part of our DNA, fragrance & flavours. Within Kashmir’s formula, the blue poppy is a fantasy accord, the way I imagine blue poppies to smell if you could extract the oil. Kashmir takes me back to Kathmandu in the morning – Linda Pilkington, Founder, Perfumer and Owner of Ormonde Jayne (exclusively for CaFleureBon).
